&lt;p&gt;Who would have thought that the whole &quot;directions&quot; thing would have been a point to talk about.  I think this comes from the fact that we do not have the grid system in most European cities, so we are much less oriented to that way of thinking about directions.  When country roads are single lane, and you navigate by church spires, other landmarks and your position relative to trunk roads, and so on, the whole north south thing seems pretty much irrelvant.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Would it help with the language if we sent you a couple of books...maybe we can get things here that you can&#039;t there?&lt;/p&gt;
